Pixar Benefit Sets Fundraising Record

In what has become one of Emeryville’s most anticipated and exciting events, this year’s Pixar Benefit Event for the Emery Ed Fund set records for money, good will and entertainment on the evening of Thursday, June 12th.

Over 230 friends and supporters of the Emery Ed Fund were treated to an evening of delicious food and drinks, tours of Pixar’s world-class facility, and then a special pre-release screening of this year’s Disney/Pixar new smash sensation, Wall-E, the story of a lonely robot set in the 28th Century.

The event raised $93,000 for the Emery Ed Fund, an all-time record in the fifth year of the event. All of the proceeds are donated to the Emery Ed Fund (www.emeryed.org), which supports students and teachers in the Emery Unified Schools with college scholarships, classroom grants and other programs.

“The event was a complete success, and we couldn’t be more pleased” said John Gooding, President of the Ed Fund. “Once again, Pixar Animation Studios has demonstrated why it is more than just the world leader in producing animated films. It is also the world leader in community support and partnerships.”

In addition to tickets and corporate sponsorships, funds were also raised through a silent auction, which included several original artworks, some autographed by Pixar animators.

Bayer HealthCare Pharmaceuticals was the major sponsor of this year’s event. “Our special thanks to Bayer, and Olivia Krampe, site head for Bayer’s operations in Emeryville, for their wonderful support,” Gooding added. “Bayer is relatively new to Emeryville, but has already established itself as a strong community partner.”
